Oscar regelementen

In dit artikel lezen we over de veranderde regels rondom de Oscar nominaties voor Best Original Score en Best Original Song.

De voornaamste wijziging voor beste score gaat over het minimale percentage ‘originele’ score ten opzichte van het totaal.

To be eligible, the rules used to require a score to comprise a minimum of 60% of the total music in the film. (The rest of the music could consist of new or old songs that were not part of the original score.) Going forward, the score need only comprise 35% of the total music in the film.

Het artikel noemt zelf recente films als Judas and the Black Messiah, One Night in Miami…, Sound of Metal en Let Them All Talk die baat zouden hebben gehad bij deze regel.

Voor beste lied wordt het volgende gewijzigd:

In the best original song category, going forward, no more than five songs from any film may be submitted. Previously, there was no limit on the number of songs that could be submitted from a film. No more than two songs from any film may be nominated, same as before.

Dit gaat natuurlijk slechts om het aanmelden van songs bij de commissie; er mogen nog altijd slechts 2 songs per film worden genomineerd. Er zijn echter maar weinig films die het quotum van 5 originele liedjes kunnen halen denk ik…
